The Milwaukee Brewers brain trust could have saved themselves a lot of aggravation, as well as $10 million this year, had they had the good sense to view the three disasterous months that Eric Gagne spent in a Red Sox uniform last year. They made him their closer and this year he's blown five saves, and had yet another meltdown on Saturday that finally led the Brewers to remove him from the role.
The Red Sox play the Brewers this week at Fenway. As Gabe Kapler gets the ovations he deserves (if he plays that is), Eric Gagne will get booed and hounded (if he plays that is).
Nothing short of what he deserves to get. I just thank the stars above the Red Sox learned their lesson about this guy last year and made no attempt to resign him.
