It was an absolutely awful loss by the Minnesota Vikings today that dropped them to 2-5, and their chances of going to their first Super Bowl since 1977 look mighty slim now. The Vikings have now lost more games in 2010 (5) than they lost in all of 2009 (4).
Brett Favre got knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter, the defense looked old and slow at times, and many on that team look like they need to go back to tackling school.
I never thought I would welcome Tarvaris Jackson back at QB.
Patriots 28, Vikings 18. I missed the first half, but caught the second half at Professor Thom's with many happy Pats fans.
I am now totally convinced of one thing. The Vikings will never win a title with Brad Childress as a head coach. As I said to a Pats fan during the game, "The two head coaches in this game are from different planets. One knows how to win and the other doesn't."
Childress made another head-scratching move near the end of the first half in going for a TD on 4th and 1 at the one yard line, and not kicking the field goal and getting points. (The game was 7-7 at the time.) I believe he is simply a lousy head coach, and the Vikings would be wise to get rid of him as soon as possible. And Randy Moss isn't winning many friends on his second tour in Minnesota.
This season appears to be beyond saving, unless the Vikings run the table and win the final 9 games. The Vikings should start looking at 2011, and leave two mistakes they made by the side of the road: Favre and Childress.
