Opener Nod to Dice-K

The Game 1 starter of the ALCS for the Red Sox will be Daisuke Matsuzaka, and he will be matched up against Tampa Bay's James Shields. Since Jon Lester pitched in the finale of the ALDS against the Angels on Monday night, he is being pushed back to Game 3, while Josh Beckett will get the ball in Game 2 on Saturday. Tim Wakefield will pitch for the Red Sox in Game 4, and it will be his first start since the season finale on September 28 (16 days to be exact).

If the series continues past Game 4, Dice-K gets the start in Game 5, Beckett for Game 6, and Lester in Game 7.

Joe Maddon announced the rest of his rotation setup, and it is: Scott Kazmir in Game 2, Matt Garza in Game 3 and Andy Sonnanstine for Game 4.
