I was surprised to learn today that Bill Buckner is returning to baseball, but this time as manager of the Brockton Rox of the independent Cam-Am league.
The Rox have a colorful history connected to the nearby Red Sox (who they have no official affiliation with), as Bill Lee pitched for them briefly last year, and Oil Can Boyd pitched for them a few years back.
The Rox also had a day back in 2009 where they gave away replicas of Yankee Stadium being hit by a mini wrecker's ball to all their fans.
Buckner signed a two-year deal with them. Good luck, Billy Buck. Nice to have you back in the game.
