Cursed To Obsess Over Curses

When are these dimwit Yankee fans going to let stupid nonsense like "curses" go?

Probably never. Talk about being obsessed.

Some schmuck named Sam Cook (I bet he can't sing a lick) wrote an article for something called News-Press.com in Ft. Myers, FL saying that since the Red Sox are moving to a new facility for Spring Training in Lee County in 2012, they will be under a new "curse." (Or the old one will return. Logic isn't Cook's strong point in this article.)

Bloody hell.

Cook quotes Wilbur Smith, who brought the Red Sox to Ft. Myers in 1993:

"The Red Sox better win the World Series this year because after 2011, the curse is back,'' Smith says.

Right, pal.

Cook admits his Yankee fandom from the git go, and Smith just sounds like he's pissed because the Red Sox are leaving his beloved City of Palms Park after 2011.

So naturally these stupid boneheads have to resort to how the "curse is back" unless the Sox drop everything in building their new spring facility and remain where they are. I'm sure John Henry & Co. are just quaking in their boots with the idea how they are tempting fate by moving out of Ft. Myers.

I've said this for years, and I stand by it. YANKEE fans were totally obsessed with all that media-created nonsense before the Red Sox won the World Series in 2004. It was a taunting device, and nothing more. And in some circles many are still obsessed with it, and want it back desperately.

And some backwater columnists will write anything for attention.

Aw, give the guy a break, Quinn. He's probably lashing out after the retirement of AP.

Sorry Kurt, but this guy reminds me too much of way too many wiseass Yankee fans I've known in my life. They get NO breaks from me...
