Houston, You've Got Big Problems

The Red Sox jumped out to any early 3-0 lead on Saturday night, and they made that stand up, as they coasted to a 10-4 win over the hapless Astros.

Another fine performance by Andrew Miller. He looked shaky to begin with, allowed Houston a quick run back in the first. But he settled in, allowing just two runs in six innings.

Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis and Adrian Gonzalez all had the same score line: 3-for-5 with one RBI. Gonzalez scored three times, and Yamaico Navarro hit a pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning, and the game was put on ice when Darnell McDonald hit a three-run blast that gave the Red Sox the series win.

I had the displeasure of watching the Mets' loss to the Yankees at my father's birthday yesterday afternoon, so the Red Sox remain stalled in second place, 2 1/2 games back.

The scourge that is interleague play comes to a merciful end today in Houston as Josh Beckett takes the hill at Minute Maid Park, as the Red Sox can also grab a winning record for the nine-game trip with a victory today.

And it is now officially the Fourth of July weekend, because the Twilight Zone marathon began at 9 AM this morning on SyFy, and will run until early Tuesday morning.
