The Alex Minasian Quartet: Thursday at the Kitano

This Thursday night, my Trivia buddy, fellow Red Sox fan and piano player Alex Minasian will be playing another gig at The Kitano, the hotel over at Park Avenue and E. 38th Street, with his Quartet. I've seen Alex play on a number of occasions and he's an incredibly talented musician.

On Thursday, some great jazz players will join Alex in doing two sets at the Kitano: Billy Pierce (saxophone), Billy Drummond (drums) and Zaid Shukri (bass). The room there is very intimate and a great place to listen and enjoy a jazz show. The first set is at 8 PM and the second will begin at 10. Alex will be recording the shows and hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things.

The Kitano has no cover, and a $10 minimum. For more information, you can check their web site, http://www.kitano.com/, or call 212-885-7119. Alex mixes his sets quite nicely, and does some great versions of some jazz standards and classics. He's gotten some fine notices of late:

"Alex Minasian is a name to remember." --Jazz Improv

"Alex has a bright future ahead of him in this music." --Jazz legend Hank Jones

I'm proud to support Alex in his latest effort, and I'll be in attendance. If you like good jazz, Alex is definitely worth taking the time to check out.
