On a rainy spring night in New York, we had a smaller crowd in for Trivia last night, as seven teams took part. It was also the day after a holiday weekend, so the crowds are normally down then. But we still a great night of Trivia, as those folks in had a great time and we were really into the Trivia. We had a close race to the finish, and wound up with a tie for first place with 52 points between Darak: You're Fired! and Turkey Club, two of our regular teams. But Turkey Club wound up guessing closest to the tie-breaker question: "What is the current population of the state of Kansas?" (2,293,000 to be precise.) Congrats to Bob and Cato on their victory.
Third place went to John Triviolta (who also won for Best Team Name) with 38 points.

Know Your Classic TV Cities on Tuesday
Trivia will be happening this Tuesday night, May 28th at 8:30 PM,
with "Q-Tip Trivia" as the Special Category. This is the category where I
will ask you seven general knowledge questions, and each will have four
choices for answers. You can pick as many as you think are correct: 1,
2, 3, all 4 or none. You will get a point for each correct answer (and
one point if it is none). However, if you put down a wrong choice, you
will get no points for that question (and it nullifies any correct choices for that question). You have to be careful!
The Q Train lightning round will be "Classic TV Cities Trivia." I will give you the names of ten very popular TV shows throughout the years, and you have to tell me where the show was set (not filmed, but where it supposedly took place).
The Sneak Peek question for this week is:
"What is the second largest city in New York State in population?"
We are back on the main floor to stay with Trivia, as the Stanley Cup Finals won't be taking place on any Tuesdays. Looking forward to seeing many of you this Tuesday!

Trivia Q&A: May 21
We had 12 teams in for Trivia on Tuesday night, and we were back on the main floor of Professor Thom's. The scores for the first two rounds were a bit on the lighter side, as I guess I made those rounds a bit tough this week. But they picked up in the next two, and we had a good race to the finish. We had three teams separated by three points going into IQ Trivia, but it was the team of Herps Free Since '03 that pulled out the win, getting a perfect 20 in IQ Trivia to wind up with 47 points. It was the first win for longtime Trivia regular Julie and her friends. Congratulations to them on their win!
Second place went to DIMS with 46 points, and Whoop There It Is finished in third place with 45 points.
Best Team Name: Jeffrey Dahmer's House of Ribs
BTW, the NHL released the Stanley Cup Finals schedule and the Bruins won't be playing any games on a Tuesday, so we are back on the main floor to stay!

Trivia Q&A: May 14
We were back in the Loft for Trivia on Tuesday night, as the Bruins had their Game 3 playoff game downstairs. We had a party up there that concluded a bit late, so we started a few minutes after 8:30. We had 9 teams take part, and I think it may have been the toughest Current Events round I've ever done, as only one team got as many as four correct. But the night belonged to Ken from DIMS (under the team name "3Peat?"), as he was solo for the third consecutive week, and wound up winning the night, as he got 38 points and the victory. Congrats to him on another solo win.
Second place went to Plateaus Are The Highest Form of Flattery with 34 points, and third place went to The Knicks Will Blow It with 32 points.
I want to wish Bentley and Callan all the best, as they have been two of my loyalest Trivia regulars, and they are departing New York City for Tennessee later this month. Last night was their last time at our Trivia Night, and I hope they can come back again one day. Good luck to you both!
Next week we will be back on the main floor of Professor Thom's for Trivia on Tuesday night, as no matter what happens in the Bruins series, there won't be a game next Tuesday. See you then.

Trivia Q&A: May 7
We were back on the main floor for Trivia at Professor Thom's last night, and we had a fine turnout of 12 teams. It was an unusual night in that it was a close race throughout the evening, with no one team pulling away from the pack at any time. And for the first time that I can remember, not a single team got a perfect score in any round. Going into IQ Trivia, the top four teams were all separated by one point between them. But it was Ken Solo II (Ken from DIMS working solo again this week) who pulled out the win, getting 3 of 5 correct in the round and getting 38 points. Congrats to Ken for his second straight solo victory.
As of this writing, we don't know if we'll be upstairs in the Loft next week or still on the main floor. The Bruins are in the NHL Eastern Conference Finals and the NHL has not yet released the full schedule. I'll pass along the info when I get it at the Facebook group, and here on the blog.
Second place went to I Like Being Downstairs With John Quinn with 36 points, and third place went to The Brenda Bunch with 35 points.

Trivia Q&A: April 30
We moved Trivia up to Professor Thom's Loft last night, as both the Bruins and Celtics had playoff games at the same time. It was an enjoyable night there, as we had 13 teams turn out, and just about all the seats and tables in the Loft were filled. (We also had some Celtics fans up there, as their playoff game sound was broadcast in the Loft, as the Bruins had priority downstairs.) It was a night for Ken from DIMS, who went under the name "Ken Solo". He was alone and had a great night, rolling up 50 points and the win. He led throughout the evening, and got 4 of 5 correct in IQ Trivia, taking the night by 7 points. Congrats, Ken.
Second place went to Just An Old Fascist Love Song (who won for Best Team Name as well) with 43 points, and we had a tie for third place between Why Can't George RR Martin use Twitter? He Killed Off All 140 Characters and I Can't Say That, It'll Spoil Game of Thrones with 34 points. We broke the tie with "How much did the average American wedding cost in 2018?" The answer was $44,105 (wow), and I Can't Say That, It'll Spoil Game of Thrones was closest and won third place.
BTW, next week we will return to our usual spot downstairs, as neither the Celtics nor the Bruins will be scheduled to play next Tuesday night, no matter how either of their playoff series goes. See you then!
