Yo Adrian: Slaves Don't Get Paid

I love Adrian Peterson to death, but he really put his foot in his mouth yesterday when he compared the locked-out NFL players to "modern-day slavery."

Is it just me, or whenever pro athletes get into a labor dispute, someone pulls out the "we're just slaves" card?

No, Adrian, NFL players are NOT slaves. In this dispute with the owners, my sympathies are lying more with the players. They want to keep the status quo, and the owners are looking to take back some of the gains of the past 25 years, as well as impose an 18-game schedule, which many players are against.

If you want to see REAL modern-day slavery, it's going on in places like Africa, where Muslims have enslaved Christians in Sudan.

To me, it's just abhorrent when any rich athlete thinks that he's some kind of "slave" and compares himself to those poor unfortunate folks who really are. Watch your words next time, Adrian.

Mr. Quinn,

You should really study your history, slaves master would hire their slaves to other masters for certain jobs. Then the master would get paid and give the slave pennies for the job he hired him out for. Do more extensive research, before you stick your own foot in your own mouth.

I'm sure the Christians in Sudan aren't getting paid by the Muslims these days, Andrea.

And even if some are being paid, it's peanuts compared to what Adrian Peterson and the average locked-out NFL player is making these days.

They ain't slaves.
