A Pizza and Beer Bash At Fenway
The Red Sox won handily 7-2 over the Angels on Patriots Day yesterday, with Josh Beckett pitching six solid innings and David Ortiz bashing his fourth home run of the season. But that's not what this game will be remembered for.
J.D. Drew hit a foul pop in the bottom of the seventh into the left field stands, and a Red Sox fan with a beer in his hands missed it and beer went flying from some of the other fans. But another fan behind him tossed an entire $8 slice of pizza right at him ($8 for a slice of pizza?) and it hit him, and NESN's cameras picked up the whole thing, and now it is all over the Internet. It's an absolute riot.
What a waste of good (or is that bad?) pizza.
Terry Francona had the best line about it.
"As long as they're not throwing them at me or us, that's OK."

The Pizza isn't bad at Fenway, but it isn't $8:
Same price as Cascarino's @ Shea Stadium;
Aramark is the concessionaire for the Red Sox, Phillies & Mets.
If he tossed that Pizza at Jeter, Jeter would drop it.
Has there been any result from the video? That is, has the pizza-thrower been outed? If he holds season tickets, has he been revoked? Anything? I've heard nothing on that front.
Yesterday's Globe said the pizza went for $8, Michael...
I think the guy was outed, but I doubt the Red Sox will do anything about it. It's more comical than anything else. It would be funny if they guy who got hit sued him in court:
"Yes your honor, I missed that foul pop and I was unduly assaulted by a flying slice of pizza from the defendant..."
I would bet both guys will turn up on David Letterman or some other show soon.
