And ironically enough, he's my state senator.
Senator Carl Kruger of Brooklyn wants to make it illegal to use an iPod, BlackBerry or any other electronic listening device while crossing a street. It would be a $100 fine for violators.
Kruger, who I've supported in the past, is WAY off base on this. He says he's doing this because of the deaths of two people in his district who were killed in the street by vehicles while listening to an electronic device.
With all the problems this city, state and country face, banning iPods at crosswalks should be way down on anyone's list. And how many people walk around the street these days while listening to music? I can't count that high, and I include myself on that list.
Come on Senator Kruger, you simply can't enforce a law like this if it went on the books.
Here's an interesting article about this nonsense, courtesy of the New York Daily News:

Carl Kruger: another politician with too much time on his hands, or one who desperately wants his picture in the paper, no matter who ridiculous he looks.
