A Post-Brawl Hangover

In the immortal words of Henry Hill in the classic movie Goodfellas: "The way I see it, everyone takes a beating sometime."

The Red Sox took one on Friday night.

Just a badly played game all around. Bartolo Colon made his first lousy start in four appearances, and he also made two errors that led to three unearned runs. The Red Sox had some early opportunities, but could cash none of them in. Manny Ramirez and Jacoby Ellsbury both sat out with the injuries they suffered on Thursday night (both are day-to-day).

The Seattle Mariners coasted to an easy 8-0 victory at the Fens. It was awful and ugly, and the less said about it the better.

Before the game, the suspensions were announced for the brawl on Thursday.
For the Red Sox: Coco Crisp - 7 games; Jon Lester - 5 games; Sean Casey - 3 games
For the Rays: James Shields - 6 games; Jonny Gomes - 5 games; Edwin Jackson - 5 games; Carl Crawford - 4 games; Akinori Iwamura - 3 games

Only Jon Lester has not appealed, and is currently serving the suspension now. (He was suspended for throwing behind Willy Aybar late in the game.)

And ESPN has the lowdown on what happened between Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis in the dugout on Thursday. Apparently, the Sox are not crazy about Youk's "tantrums" after he strikes out or makes out, and has been told about it in the past. With all the tensions from the brawl, tempers flared after Youk's at-bat after the fourth inning. Here is the scoop from ESPN.
