Links For a Holiday Weekend

My friends at The Fresh Air Fund have just kicked off their summer, and are still looking for host families to help city kids enjoy the summer. If you have any interest, please go here.

Another fascinating story from The Hauls of Shame web site. A stolen letter from Ty Cobb was recently found for sale on eBay last May, and the police recovered it and returned it to the Sporting News. Check it out here.

Old friend Josh Byrnes is out of work. A possible return to Boston?

Stunning win for the Netherlands in the first World Cup quarterfinal over favorites Brazil, 2-1. Not sorry to see them leave, as their fans remind me too much of certain entitled fans I know in New York too well. Win also reminded me of the 2004 ALCS, as historic underachievers beat a team with a fanbase that expects a championship every time they play. And the Dutch even came from behind to win, too.
