Stienbrenner was a champion.
A champion election law violator.
A champion blackmailer.
A champion best friend of Howie Spira.
A good Candidate for the Baseball Hall of Shame.
"One's a liar the other's convicted." To quote Billy Martin.
The convicted one was Stienbrenner.
He leaves with a mixed legacy. Some will love him, others will despise him. Like Richard Nixon.
