Red Sox minor league prospect Ryan Westmoreland, the top position player in their system, left camp last week and Extra Bases reported that he has a cavernous malformation in his brain. He is currently on medical leave and will have surgery next week in Arizona. Ryan is only 19 years old.
The condition is potentially life-threatening if not treated properly. Not too much more is known about his condition or possible return. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan and his family that he makes a complete recovery.

yes had just watched the MLB Network 30 on 30 with Red Sox where they talked glowingly about him then switched over to ESPN and there it was on the scroll.
Prayers and thoughts go out to him and his family
Tough break for him. Hopefully he can bounce back to good health and be back soon.
