Bard Gives Up Another One

A great ninth inning comeback with two big homers by Jacoby Ellsbury and Jarrod Saltalamacchia goes to waste, as Daniel Bard (now 2-7) gave up another game, this time to Tampa Bay in the 11th.

A triple and a single, and Tampa Bay is just 4 1/2 games back in the Wild Card race, with the LA Angels lurking right behind them.

The clutch hitting has been lousy (o-for-9 with RISP on Saturday), and yet another unquality start. It makes for a deadly combination.

The Sox have now dropped eight of ten in September. This is absolutely the worst time to go into the tank.

Jon Lester simply can't pitch every day, but he will on Sunday.
