Long May It Wave

This is my 800th post since I started The Mighty Quinn Media Machine, and I thought I would dedicate this one to the July 4th holiday, which is now upon us.

It was 231 years ago today that we declared ourselves free from British rule. July 4th is always a day to enjoy ourselves, to have barbeques, be with family and friends and even enjoy "The Twilight Zone" marathon on the Sci-Fi Channel (thanks Jere!).

But the day is a lot more than that. It is time to remember that we are a free people, and to be proud of that fact. But also it is a time to remember those who gave everything, including their lives, to see to it that we remain that way. Please say a prayer today for all of our brave military all around the world, especially those in harm's way in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Abraham Lincoln once said that "Freedom was the last, best hope of earth." Our freedom is not free, and it comes with a huge cost. Remember those who've paid that price today.

May God bless our country, warts and all.

I plan to buy either a member of the Armed Services, or a Veteran, a drink, in honor of this occasion(3 if that person roots for the Mets-they may need it to calm down):

God Bless America
