Manny, Papi Win Silver Slugger Awards

Manny Ramirez won his ninth Silver Slugger Award, which goes to the player with the best offensive numbers at each position. David Ortiz won his third consecutive award at designated hitter. Only Barry Bonds and Mike Piazza have won more Silver Slugger Awards than Manny.

Now why in the world would the Red Sox EVER consider breaking up this incredible tandem, which has people comparing them to Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig?

Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes won awards in the NL, and both for the first time.

I Think It is more Manny's attitude that people are fed up with:]

I'd put up with his attitude if he would put up 35-40 HRs, 100-120 RBI and a .300 AVG every year....

SO Would I!

Manny is not considered a "clubhouse cancer" by any of his Red Sox teammates. He's rather flaky, but NO ONE in baseball works harder on his overall game than Manny does. I know the Sox wanted to get out from under his gigantic contract, but he has only 2 years to go, and with the numbers he's put up since 2001, he's been worth every penny.

Yes he has and know that loretta and Alez gonzalez are likely gone we need his numbers

Manny is still an "Idiot" in the World Championship Sense of the word:

I did watch him against the FL.Marlins, during Interleague Play & believe that the knee injury was as a result of when a ball was hit to LF in Dolphins Stadium, Manny lunged at a ball, & looked like he might have twisted that knee during the lunge;

He's just an amazing free spirit, who would NOT fit in with that "Refined Corporate Image" of the NY Yankees, who're 0-6 in this Century.

One day (Friday) of incredible news, and this is just icing on our cakes. I agree...Manny after Papi equals wins. And the starting rotation might be getting a whole lot better. The team made the first step in a HUGE way. Great weekend! And remember the veterans, and the men and women in the land of hell right now.
