Halladay Makes History

Roy Halladay had never played in a postseason game in all his time with the Toronto Blue Jays. And his start in Game 1 against the Cincinnati Reds today would mark his first appearance in the postseason.

He made it very memorable, tossing a no-hitter, in a 4-0 Phillies win. Only one batter reached base for the Reds, Jay Bruce on a walk in the fifth.

It's just the second one ever in the postseason, along with Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series.

Halladay also becomes just the fifth pitcher to toss two no-hitters in one year, the first since Nolan Ryan in 1973. And he also became the first pitcher ever to throw a perfect game and another no-hitter in the same year.

And for those of you who root for the Phillies in New York, Professor Thom's is becoming a "Phillies bar" for this postseason. My buddy Mike is one of Thom's owners and a devoted Phillies fan. Thom's will have all the Phillies postseason games on their big screens (with sound), and will have $10 pitchers of Yuengling and authentic Philly cheesesteaks as long as the Fightin' Phils are in the playoffs.

Lincecum was awesome, too. I saw six minutes of highlights on ESPN dot com. Wow! Have a great weekend. Damn, Andy Pettitte looked darn good.

Tim sure was phenomenal. Phillies vs. Giants looks inevitable. Pettitte? I wouldn't know because I refuse to watch any Yankee postseason baseball.
