Shelley Duncan: Classless Jerk

Here's yet another item to add in the catalog of reasons why people despise the New York Yankees.

Many of you many have seen this in the Boston Herald on Sunday. Apparently, the latest Yankee successor to Mickey Mantle, rookie outfielder Shelley Duncan, signed an autograph for a 10-year-old boy at Fenway Park on Friday night this way:

"RED SOX SUCK! SHELLEY DUNCAN."

Young Red Sox fan Griffin Whitman was excited to get an autograph from a major league player, but sure wasn't happy with the message Duncan left with it. Talk about being a complete moron. Duncan sure doesn't impress me as being the sharpest knife in the drawer. Someone from the Yankee organization (who are probably embarrassed by all of this) should sit down with this bonehead and tell him that doing stupid nonsense like this only makes enemies, and not friends, with opposition fans. And especially doing it to a young kid. (It would have been one thing to have done this to an adult, and think it would have been more or less laughed off. But to a young boy? Makes me wonder what Duncan uses for brains.) The good majority of players are usually happy to sign autographs for young fans at games, even for fans of the opposing side, and wouldn't do something as thoughtless as this.

Duncan ought to be ashamed of himself.

Here's more about that classless jerk and his bad attempt at humor:

I was sitting right near this...

Shelley was getting a lot of crap from all the fans, including the poor innocent little 10 year old kid.

Then the kid asked for his autograph.

If you can't take it, don't dish it out. The kids a brat and now hes whining about it after probably chanting "Yankees Suck" for the past five years of his life.

Even if he was getting crap from this 10-year-old (and I haven't heard anything as to whether he was or not), Duncan still shouldn't have done that. It looks petty and silly, and makes himself look foolish.

Are you people Sox fans or what? I am ashamed that any Sox fan would have a problem with this, OH except for the pink hatters I guess. GROW UP! The only bad thing here is that it is a nobodys sig. Otherwise I would frame it. They make little kids clothes that say "Yankees Suck". Don't you people have anything better to do. Get a job or something and stop going to Sox games so I can get a damn ticket that costs under 200 bucks.

You red sox fans are too sensative. So many years of looking in the rearview mirror will do that. Your just looking for a red sox yankees story line OTHER than the fact that the yanks have owned the sox the scond half of the season and have the mental edge going into the postseason.

Hey listen, guys, I'd be laughing at this if he did it to some ADULT Sox fan, especially if he was giving Duncan crap from the stands. But when it comes to a 10-year-old fan just looking for an autograph, Duncan should have used more common sense. He could only lose doing something like this to a little kid.

He should have written....

You Suck - Shelley Duncan

I played little league and high school ball against Shelly Duncan in Tucson while he was at CDO.

He was a pitcher for Canyon Del Oro. I always remember him as the guy threw the ball at my head in the little league all-star game and laughed while I was on the ground getting up.

He was a creep back then. He's probably just as much of a creep now.

Needless to say, I wasn't surprised when I saw that he caused the brawl the other day.
