Papi Sits For 4 Games

MLB handed out its discipline for the confrontation between David Ortiz and Kevin Gregg last week, and Big Papi and Gregg will sit for 4 games and pay a fine of $2500. Both are appealing, so neither is suspended yet.

Baltimore manager Buck Showalter was suspended one game for his ejection from last Friday night's game, and sat out last night's game against the Indians (manager's can't appeal suspensions).

Orioles pitcher Mike Gonzalez will sit for 3 games for throwing behind Ortiz in the same game, and will be fined $1500. Jom Johnson and Jarrod Saltalamacchia were also fined for the actions during the scuffle.

John Lackey was also fined for throwing at Derrek Lee in Saturday's game.

The Yankees opened the second half last night with a big time stinker in Toronto, as the Blue Jays walloped them, 16-7. The Red Sox lead is now 1 1/2 games, as they open a three-game series against the Rays in St. Pete tonight.
