Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reported tonight that Nikkan Sports in Japan is saying that Daisuke Matsuzaka has elected to have Tommy John surgery performed on his ailing right elbow.
It would end his 2011 season and possibly a big part of the 2012 season. He's a free agent following next season.
No definitive word yet on Rich Hill's injury. He left Wednesday's game clutching his left elbow, and an MRI was performed on Wednesday evening. More should be known on Thursday.
