Godspeed Dr. Rumack. And Lt. Drebin.

I was really saddened tonight to learn that one of the great actors of our time, Leslie Nielsen, passed away today in Florida at the age of 84. He was a "serious" actor until 1980, when the producers of "Airplane!" came up the genius idea of putting actors like him in comedic roles, and he just shined in the role of "Dr. Rumack." He was a big part of why "Airplane!" is all-time comedy classic.

It led to a new career for Mr. Nielsen, who starred in the great series "Police Squad." It ran for just six episodes in the summer of 1982, but it was superb. It spawned the "Naked Gun" films.

So in honor of the legend of Leslie Nielsen, here is one of my all-time favorite comic scenes in any movie. It never ceases to make me bust out laughing, even after seeing it about 200 times:

Thanks for all the memories and all the laughs, Mr. Nielsen. Godspeed.
