Weis Out

Charlie Weis was fired as Notre Dame coach this afternoon. No surprise.

Apparently no decision has been made as far as whether Notre Dame will accept a bowl bid. AD Jack Swarbrick asked the players if they wanted to play in one, and should they accept, ND will have an interim head coach for that.

Roll out the usual suspects as far as who will be the next ND head coach. Let's hope this is a more inspired choice.

Connecticut football...my goodness! Good luck to ND in the future,Q. I had not heard this. Peter

P.S. Before the game, so many ND fans came up to the UCONN players and wished they would win, just so CW would (might) be gonzo. Have a great night.

I'm not surprised to hear that, Peter, as Weis' time was clearly done, and a new coach was a necessity.

Not sure who the next coach will be Rick, but I will convey you thoughts to the ND brass. LOL

So, nevermind who the new ND coach will be. How about the chances of Charlie returning to the Pats?

The problem - same with Romeo Crennel in Cleveland, but defense - was that Charlie was a one-dimensional genius. His ND team hasn't had a problem offensively, for the most part. As a matter of fact, he's done a fine job with Jimmy Clausen, IMHO. But the man doesn't know how to build a defense.

Just my opinion. Rather than firing Weis, ND should try to bring in Crennel for the other side of the ball!
