Earlier this week, I received an email from Frank of the BLOHARDS and he informed me that Jerry Casale, the former Red Sox pitcher of the late 1950s and early 1960s, suffered a stroke at his home in New Jersey. Frank also just let me know that Jerry is doing better and in good spirits in the hospital in Ridgewood, NJ.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry, a fellow Brooklynite, last August at gathering of the BLOHARDS at a dinner in Manhattan. He's a great guy and still quite the raconteur, chatting with all of us and sharing stories of baseball days throughout the dinner. Jerry ran a popular Italian restaurant in midtown Manhattan for many years that featured lots of Red Sox memorabilia.

He may soon be ready for a move to rehab. My prayers are with Jerry and his family that he will make a full recovery. Cards can be sent to Jerry at: The Valley Hospital, 223 N. Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450.
My thanks to Frank at the BLOHARDS for all the information.
Be well, oh Native of Park Slope!
