No, not the Drew you maybe thinking of.
The Red Sox agreed with shortstop Stephen Drew, the 29-year-old younger brother of the now-retired J.D., to a one-year, $9.5 million contract on Monday. It's another signing that fits the Red Sox "mold", as it's another low-risk move, bringing in another veteran on a short-term deal.
Drew, who split time between Arizona and Oakland in 2012, suffered a badly broken ankle in 2011, and has struggled to get back to form since.
His signing probably means that Jose Iglesias will begin 2013 at Pawtucket. Alex Speier has a good take on the Drew signing.
