I Wouldn't Bet On Any Standing Ovations

Julio Lugo looks like he's making the tour, as the Cardinals traded him to the Baltimore Orioles today for a bag of used balls, er, a player to be named later.

I would bet the only fans who be rising when he makes his first at-bat back at Fenway this year will be the ones who'll be heading for the bathrooms.

The Red Sox also put Boof Bonser on the disabled list to begin the season with a groin injury and Jed Lowrie, who if he had any worse luck he'd be dead by now, also on the DL with mononucleosis. Junichi Tazawa needs Tommy John surgery and is done for 2010, and will have it next week.

Also, reports have it that the Red Sox and Josh Beckett are closing in on a four-year, $68 million deal, and it maybe announced as soon as Monday.

BTW, is Beckett's agent, Michael Moye, the same Michael Moye who created "Married With Children?" Found nothing about it on the creator's Wikipedia page...

Good Pete. Hope you are well.

I would bet Lugo would strictly be a backup, but it appears your O's are on the right path. I like their young pitchers and the good young nucleus of hitters they have. It's an important year in Baltimore, for the Orioles to take the next step to respectability.
