Yesterday's Division Series results had to bring some small comfort to fans of the New York Mets, who are still trying to get over the horrid late-season collapse they suffered.
The Phillies put themselves in an 0-2 hole in their series with the Colorado Rockies, as they were trounced, 10-5, at Citizens Bank Park. Ex-Met Kaz Matsui had a double, triple and a home run in pacing the Colorado attack. Matsui became just the second player in history to turn that trick in the postseason. (Lou Brock was the other.)
The Rockies can now book a place in the NLCS with a win on Saturday night at Coors Field.
The Yankees got plastered at Jacobs Field last night by the Indians, 12-3. Their best pitcher, Chien-Ming Wang didn't last five innings, and put the Yankees in a hole they could not crawl out of. (Some difference between him and Josh Beckett's sterling performance of Wednesday night. Anyone who puts Wang in the same breath with Beckett as far as the Cy Young Award has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.)
The New York 2-3-4-5 hitters were absent last night, going 0-for-14. And yes, Alex Rodriguez went hitless again, but I don't think you can blame this loss on him. C.C. Sabathia was rather shaky last night, but survived five innings and got the win. The Indians hit 4 home runs, and coasted to an easy Game 1 win.
As for the Cubs, they are in the same boat as the Phillies, but now they head home down 0-2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks, after losing 8-4 in Phoenix last night. No room for error now. One more loss in this series and it will be 99 consecutive seasons without a World Series championship.

In my Blog, I refer to the COL Rockies as the Ones to Watch, here in Postseason, as they've got the momentum
