Retrieving a Little Dignity

The Red Sox ended a lousy 10-game homestand with two wins in their final turn at-bat against the White Sox. They now lead the AL with 8 wins in the final at-bat, tied with the Mets for the MLB lead.

The Sox are now 2-0 since they jettisoned A.J. Pierzynski (coincidence? I think not). They didn't get their first base runner until the 6th inning yesterday (that has to be at least the sixth time the Sox have gone through the first three innings in a game without a base runner; seems more like 50).

Jon Lester was superb in 7 innings, but Koji Uehara, who has looked more human lately, gave up a two-run homer in the 9th to tie it at 3. Mike Carp's RBI single in the 10th won it for the Red Sox.

Two straight wins and a weekend series in Houston to wrap it up for the All-Star break. Can't get excited at all about this, but it would be nice to see the kids contribute the rest of the way.
