All Good Things Must Come To An End

The consecutive batters retired streak of Koji Uehara finally came to an end last night, as he gave up a triple to Danny Valencia to open the ninth inning, and that run scored as the Orioles went on to a 3-2 win last night at Fenway.

Uehara's team record closed at 37 straight batters, and it was his first loss of 2013. His scoreless streak of 30 1/3 innings also ended when Baltimore took the ninth inning lead.

And it was one of those very rare nights where I wasn't bothered by a Red Sox loss.

Tampa Bay lost to Texas, so the Magic Number for the Sox dropped to three. It just means they can't wrap up the AL East tonight, but could do it on Thursday. (The Magic Number to wrap up a playoff berth is now at 2.)

It was a bad night for the Yankees, as all the teams in front of them won except Tampa Bay. Their Wild Card hopes continue to grow dimmer.

The Sox are now at 92-60, and still have the best record in baseball, 2 1/2 games better than both the A's and Braves, who are both 89-62.
