Can't Crack .500

Once again the Red Sox had the opportunity of finally getting over the .500 mark on Sunday, and once again it proved elusive.

Alfredo Aceves, who has been very good as of late, served up a meatball down the middle of the plate to Sean Rodriguez, and got burned, as he sent it across the street, as Tampa Bay won the series, 4-3.

Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run shot off Jeremy Hellickson in the 7th, for the only Red Sox runs of the day. They had a golden opportunity to add to their 3-2 lead in the 8th, but Gonzalez grounded out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Clay Buchholz was again very good, going seven innings and allowing two runs.

The AL East is still bunched up and the Red Sox are 5 1/2 games out, in fifth place at 23-24.

The Detroit Tigers now come into Fenway on Memorial Day for a four game series.
