It's a very dark day for Mets fans everywhere today.
The news came down today that Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, the owners who have successfully run the New York Mets into the ground, have settled the lawsuit brought against them over the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
The Mets owners will pay $162 million, and won't have to do it for three years.
This settlement tells me that they would have lost this suit, and probably would have been forced to sell the team.
Yes, these clods will continue to run the Mets, and like a small-market team.
Here's more from ESPN New York.
The Mets will continue to be The Other Team In New York for the foreseeable future.
Very sad.
