So Long Duke

I was saddened to learn tonight of the passing of a true Brooklyn icon, the great Duke Snider.

He is the answer to a great trivia question: "Who hit the most home runs in the decade of the 1950s?" Most people wouldn't think of Snider right off the bat (most would probably say Willie Mays, Ted Williams or Mickey Mantle).

I wasn't around when the Dodgers were here in Brooklyn, but he meant as much to Brooklyn as any athlete who has ever come from the borough or represented it.

Here's more from The New York Times.

Rest in peace, Duke. And thanks for the memories.

From all of Brooklyn.
