Jon Heyman tweeted today that the Red Sox will pick up Terry Francona's two-year option for 2012 and 2013 at $9 million. If it's true (it's from Heyman of course, but I bet it will happen shortly), it's another smart, no-brainer move by the Sox brass.
Tito also announced that Josh Beckett will start the MLB Grapefruit opener for the Red Sox this Sunday night against the Twins at Ft. Myers. Clay Buchholz and Brandon Duckworth will also get in some work on the mound for the Sox.
