The disaster that was the 2010 Minnesota Vikings season came to a merciful end and with a thud as the Detroit Lions beat the Vikings, 20-13, for their fourth straight win at Ford Field in Detroit.
Brett Favre was once again inactive and briefly took it all in from the sidelines.
The loss means the Vikings finish in last, as they ended up tied with Detroit at 6-10. A season that began with some promise after 2009's trip to the NFC title game ended as a lost season. The Lions showed today that they are a team on the rise. The Vikings have tons of work to do this off season.
Leslie Frazier will indeed be back for the 2011 season as head coach. An announcement is forthcoming this week.
It is the first time the Vikings have lost 10 games since 2006, and just the 7th time in their 50 year history they have lost that many games. It is also the first time since 1990 they finished in the basement, and the previous last-place finish before that was the worst season in Vikings history, 1984. (3-13, remember Les Steckel as head coach?)
Favre is FINALLY done. (I hope.) The experiment failed. Time to move on.
