Another Fenway Crapfest

I'm just glad it was another Red Sox game I missed most of.

I was busy doing another one of my background acting gigs that went on for over 12 hours on Monday (and one with a Red Sox connection, more about that later this week in a future post) and when I got home the Red Sox were in a 6-2 hole against the Indians.

It would end up 6-5, Cleveland. Another brutal loss to a team that won't be playing baseball beyond the first weekend in October.

The Red Sox are 14-14 against AL lightweights: Indians, Royals, Mariners and Orioles. So, why are the Yankees and Rays both 6 1/2 games ahead of the Sox? Because they have feasted on these boys. New York has beaten them 23 times and Tampa Bay 21. If the Red Sox don't make it, this will be one of the main reasons why.

Just when you want to love John Lackey, he turns in a miserable performance like last night. And the Sox left runners everywhere AGAIN, and had two runners thrown out at home, too. (The Red Sox will have a new third base coach next season.)

Mike Cameron was put on the DL again with the remnants of the sports hernia injury he suffered earlier this year, and it may end his season. I feel for Cameron, as the man is a warrior who would play through anything, but just can't make it any more. Kevin Youkilis jammed his thumb and left last night's game. He's day-to-day right now, and it doesn't look like anything serious.

Adrian Beltre continued his hot hitting with two home runs. But the clutch hitting was nowhere in sight against a club the Red Sox should be beating up on. Josh Beckett takes the ball tonight.
