From Bornintoit.com today, MLB.com is selling this shirt:
They "conquered a dynasty" because they won one division title? Please remind me: how many World Series championships have the Tampa Bay Rays won again?
How dare they? It all starts tomorrow. On a serious note, I wrote my happy birthday post to John this morning. October 9th...it always gets to me. Have fun on Saturday night...I wish I could be there. The book was great, by the way. My review was a couple weeks back. GO SOX, and happy birthday, John Lennon.
Let's say this Bold(Thunderbird-Induced)Occasion Occurs:
Methinks that in that region of Florida, where the NFL reigns supreme and Baseball is something of an afterthought, that, since "The Trop" is not noted for high revenues, that I'm of the belief that Sternberg Et Al, might conduct a fire sale, ala The Marlins;
Then, again, Sternberg is no Loria and Sampson;
But, because of his Oblique, Mr Beckett worries me no end, as he's been rather-inconsistent, all year;
Matsuzaka has been a wonderfully-consistent Pitcher. Tampa often turns to jelly, when out of doors, especially, wherever the weather is somewhat cold;
Nobody on the Rays makes big money (with the exception of Carl Crawford), so why would they be holding a fire sale? The Rays are a good young team that could be together for a while. A Marlins-like dismantling won't happen anytime soon.

ReplyDeleteI'll have an upcoming post on John's birthday today. Can't wait for the fun to begin in Tampa. Take care Peter.

Our Series will be on tbs.

ReplyDeleteThe best part of being el stinko for so long that the rays built up an impressive farm system. They rarely whiffed on those high picks.
ReplyDeleteIn the last 18 months or so, Te Rays have had everything go right for them. All the trades, every personnel decision-it is uncanny.
This was done on a pop gun budget as opposed to the howitzers trotted around by the Yanks and Sawx.
The Rays have my respect. This is going to be good.
I wonder how much I would have gotten for a 5-10 sucker bet on The Rays in Spring Training?
WHERE are all The Tampa Bay Rays Bars in Manhattan? Brooklyn? Hartford, CT?
ReplyDeleteI Know of NONE.
