I guess no one is more happier that the long trip the Red Sox opened the season with has finally come to an end than the players themselves. Dustin Pedroia may have summed it up best after yesterday's game with this:
“I’m tired of hearing that (expletive),” Dustin Pedroia said. “Yeah, we had to go to Japan and yeah, we had a 19-day road trip, but that’s the schedule, we have to accept it, no excuses. We played like (expletive) for three games and got our (butt) kicked, how’s that?”
Quite the young man with the colorful vocabulary. Now the Sox can get down to the business of winning games, celebrate last year's championship at Fenway tomorrow and lose all the talk about being tired from long road trips.
My thanks to Surviving Grady and the Boston Herald for the quote.
Evening Q:
ReplyDeleteFor a minute there, I thought he was channeling Brendan Donnelly! Pedroia is QUITE the character...maybe we could clone him and replace our shortstop...heck, let's clone one of my cats--any one of them could do a better job these days...
Happy Day Before Ring Day--Hope you are well!
Go Sox!
Hope you are doing well too, Christine. Got a feeling we may be seeing Jed Lowrie up sooner than we think, but let's see if Lugo straightens out his act...
ReplyDeleteHave a great Ring (and Flag Raising) Day tomorrow. It should be something special!
Love Pedroia. You don't get bull from the little man at second base!
ReplyDeleteIf Sox Nation ever needs an ambassador to, like, The UN or The Bronx, I nominate Dustin Pedroia
