Notre Dame won easily on Saturday, 39-17 over Air Force at Falcon Stadium in Colorado. But It was a rare game when the many fans of the Fighting Irish could not see their team play, as for the first time in 14 years, a Notre Dame game was not broadcast by either NBC, CBS, ABC or ESPN. It was shown by somebody called CSTV. I guess being a fan of the Fighting Irish, I'm a little spoiled, and I expect to see them every week. So, I followed the game on radio here in New York.
Brady Quinn has another superb game, throwing for 207 yards and four touchdowns. Darius Walker rushed for 153 yards and scored one TD, and Jeff Samardzija caught six passes for 106 yards and one TD. Notre Dame was always in command, as they scored three TDs in the first quarter and led 27-3 at the half.
Notre Dame was ranked ninth going into yesterday, and four teams this weekend ahead of them lost: Louisville, Texas, Auburn and California. You have to figure that the Fighting Irish will move up in the rankings. Next up is Army this Saturday at South Bend, and then the big one: the season finale against USC at LA Coliseum on November 25.

You got that right. The Mountain West Conference has it's own network, the "mtn." (little 'M')which broadcasts most of the league's games. Right now, less than 70% of the team's cities have the channel on cable, and none of them have it on satellite. When there are two games on at the same time, they kick one game over to "Versus," which used to be the Outdoor Life channel (which no one has) or CSTV (which less than half of the cities have at this time). Even with the .mtn available to me, I haven't seen the best games of BYU's season (my team), against TCU, Air Force and Wyoming.
This CSTV channel I hear is a CBS owned sports channel they've just gotten off the ground...It's a bummer, Farid, when you can't see your team's games because of a lousy cable channel....
Luckily, one of my friends was at the game, so I got constant updates from him.
To clarify Farid's comment, Versus is actually carried in 64 million households nationwide, CSTV is in less than half of that.
I just found out now that CSTV had a "free preview" weekend this weekend, but Time Warner apparently didn't bother to tell anyone.
I wonder if Cablevision had a "free preview" this past weekend as well? The newspapers only had a listing of the ND-AF game being on the radio, not TV. Thanks for the stats and the info Chris...
