Now everybody thinks they're funny, and somewhere along the line, Berman turned into a bumbling idiot. He's not a play-by-play man, yet at one point they started putting him in that role. (As I'm writing, he's putting on a Giants hat as he introduces the Derby from out on the field--cheap ploy to win over fans.)

But, uh, yeah, it's not like I care who wins the derby, but I do like to watch mega-bombs. And it's much more fun if a Sock is involved. (Or Yanks to root for them to do bad, pull hammies, ruin their swing for the second half, etc.)Jerehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13448619048422750447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24009374.post-52617216027269086772007-07-09T15:56:00.000-04:002007-07-09T15:56:00.000-04:00Berman used to be good? I just don't think it's that big a deal.BklynSoxFanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512844600688808055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24009374.post-68994432453013233832007-07-09T15:19:00.000-04:002007-07-09T15:19:00.000-04:00I like the HR Derby because, well, I like home run...I like the HR Derby because, well, I like home runs, (loved the old show from the 60s at the "other" Wrigley Field), but also because you get to see the players sitting on the field, often with their kids, just having a good time.

Have to watch it on mute, though--thanks, Berman! Apparently, fans were ...I definitely agree, Suldog. Apparently, fans were "clamoring" for interleague play (according to MLB surveys), but I didn't know one who was. The World Series will always have something special about it, but once interleague play started, the luster it once had was gone forever. And that's a shame.BklynSoxFanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17512844600688808055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24009374.post-39362910691236091492007-07-09T12:11:00.000-04:002007-07-09T12:11:00.000-04:00I hate interleague play. If two teams have met already during the regular season, that match-up in The Series is not as unique and special.

I remember being thrilled and intrigued when the Sox played the Mets. It was the first-ever meeting of the teams. If that match-up happens this year? OK, but they've played each other in the recent past and not in any sort of showcase games. Big deal.Suldoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07778845367184916684noreply@blogger.com
